BOX PROGRAM or BPB II
The Box program was designed to meet the needs of older children (primarily middle school and high school) and their families. Instead of bags of food going home in their backpacks every Friday, the children’s families pick up boxes of food at school once a month. These boxes are designed to supplement the whole family’s nutritional needs and contain a variety of shelf-stable food. Depending on the size of the family they can be eligible for multiple boxes. Box contents vary each month, but they contain items such as pasta, marinara sauce, rice, beans, peanut butter, jelly, cereal, granola bars, pancake mix, syrup, oatmeal, canned tuna, canned chicken, canned ham, mac & cheese, etc. This is a better solution for older children as the amount of food we can provide in the box is greater than what we can get into the weekly bags.
We are currently distributing approximately three hundred boxes each month reaching over one thousand kids and their families. Boxes of fresh produce are also available to students who receive boxes of food monthly. Please see the “Produce Program” page.
